CFML Developer

CFML Developer / JQuery Role

November 2009 - Dumfries, Scotland

We are looking for a part time CFML/JavaScript/JQuery developer that will assist with our growing portfolio of projects.  CFML will be used at all levels, including maintaining existing projects, as well creating brand new applications from the ground up.

Someone that has a strong desire to make things better and improve software will gain a lot of traction in our company as we move forward with a number of projects. In addition to powering bespoke applications, we are also the company behind the official Java CFML runtime engine, Open BlueDragon. 

Working along side respected Java fellows, the candidate will learn from the industries finest and the ideal candidate will really make their presence felt.  We are always reviewing and evaluating new cutting edge technologies, and as such, you will be asked to look at new emerging technologies and give your appraisal of its validity.

Remote working is available, although we do meet face-2-face on a regular basis, so proximity to Dumfries and Galloway is a must or at least the willing to travel there once every so often.

There are no fixed hours, this role can be inserted into your current daily routine and is ideally suited for part time working.  We do ask that you are available at least a few hours during the traditional working day to communicate with others in the team.

You will be asked to complete a small CFML coding challenge to determine your level of CFML.

Ideal candidate must:

  • be able to think around a problem
  • not always go for the shortest or easiest route possible
  • be creative in their solutions
  • be a good communicator
    • both verbally, email and irc chat
  • be a self motivator
  • have strong time management skills
  • not be scared to say "i do not know"

Must have demonstratable skills

  • CFML (BlueDragon or OpenBD knowledge)
  • JavaScript / HTML DOM level
  • JQuery 1.3 skills
    • AJAX
    • DOM manipulation
  • CSS
  • Strong Object understanding
Nice to have skills
  • Web Services knowledge
  • Open Source knowledge
